Exploring the Past, Protecting the Future: 7th Grade Adventures at Dinosaur National Monument

The 7th graders at Glenwood Springs Middle School created a series of Public Service Announcements (PSAs) inspired by their trip to Dinosaur National Monument. During their adventure, students camped, conducted fieldwork, explored fossils and nature, and strengthened friendships through shared experiences. They also learned about the “Leave No Trace” ethics, discovering how to care for the environment and protect natural spaces for future generations.

Connecting their outdoor learning to global issues, students read A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park, gaining insight into Sudanese culture and the impacts of water insecurity and war. Their PSAs combine creativity, science, and empathy—reminding viewers to respect the earth, conserve its resources, and value the connections that unite people around the world.
